Chinese new year

The advent of Chinese New Year, or the Spring Festival has a long history of bringing family and friends together. It’s symbolic in many religious traditions and beliefs of ensuring good fortune in the coming year and the festival, based on the Chinese Lunar calendar, is a celebration of new beginnings, marking the new year and change of season.

The animals associated with Chinese New Year are part of the Chinese zodiac, based on the tale of The Great Race which depicts the Jade emperor, ruler of the heavens, devising a way to measure time by organising a race. The first twelve animals to make it across the river would earn a place on the zodiac calendar in the order in which they crossed the finish line. As opposed to the astrological Western zodiac where your birthday coincides with different constellations throughout the calendar year, the Chinese zodiac changes annually, each year centring on one of these animals in the same order as the tale.

Our esteemed Zodiac collection of perfumes takes its inspiration from the story with each fragrance representing one of the different animals or zodiacs and their unique personalities and characteristics.
