Valiant

Synonyms for valiant include heroic, audacious and strong-willed, words that resonate perfectly throughout the olfactive canon of Boadicea the Victorious. Valiant is a luscious floral composition, weighted elegantly toward citrus drenched flowers. Created as part of the Chinese Zodiac collection, and representing The Year of the Horse, Valiant joins, Hasu, Hanuman and Dragon in their bold interpretations of the Chinese zodiac menagerie. The Year of The Horse is the 7th in the twelve-year cycle of the Chinese animal calendar. Horse folks are considered agile, bold and good humoured, liked by those around them.

The flowers at the heart of Valiant suggest sultry vacations, walking in the cool shade of burgeoning trees, fruit warm and ripening, sun flickering through leaves. Joyful orange blossom, mandarin, orange, grapefruit and neroli are poured over jasmine, cherry blossom and ylang-ylang, that has hints of monoi and green banana. A vanilla-rich base is flavoured with amber, sandalwood, tonka and a cocoa kissed patchouli.

The horse is also a reference to the free-spirited steeds leading Boadicea into battle pulling chariots and carrying her people raging against Roman rule. These horses suggest leather, sun glinting off shields, horsehair, warm skin, pounding hearts and churned grass under hoof. 

As Valiant settles on skin, there is an intriguing suggestion of old school pomanders, studded with Christmas spices, rolled in orris powder to preserve them.
